After invasion of japanese forces in many provinces of Thailand, the government at that time agreed to be a part of the invasion plan to burma and india. 24 Ki-43 IIBs were given to RTAF. Mainly tasked as Bangkok defense force based at Don muang airbase.
On november 27 ,1944. 55 american B-29 bombers from their base in India had mission to destroy Bang sue industrial area of Bangkok. A number of fighters from this squadron flew intercepting mission.
Flt.lt. Therdsak worasup with his Ki-43IIB followed one B-29 to the west and crippled it( crashed later in the indian ocean) but his Ki-43 IIB was badly damaged and set on fire.he parachuted safely and return to Bangkok many days later.
It’s not hard to find Ki-43 in 1/72nd scale but remember, we have to use version II with 3-blade propeller only for RTAF birds.Hasegawa is good enough, cheap and easy to assemble.
Our decal provide 2 aircrafts. One Ki-43IIB .The another one is Ki-36 basic trainer that also belongs to RTAF during WWII.
