Liverpool Extend Diogo Jota's Contract Until 2027
Liverpool once again managed to secure the services of a valuable asset. Their star, Diogo Jota, confirmed to receive a contract extension from the management of the Reds and will stay at Anfield longer. With the new contract, Jota will last longer, which is until 2027. Officially, Liverpool management has announced this on its official website.
Diogo Jota has scored 34 goals in 85 appearances since joining Liverpool from Wolves in the summer of 2020; the Portugal international has received extended and improved terms on the five-year deal he initially signed upon arriving at Anfield.
"We are delighted to announce the extension of our new long-term contract with the Reds," Liverpool said in a statement.
1. Jota is happy to be part of Liverpool's long-term project
Meanwhile, Jota was happy after his contract was extended by Liverpool. He feels appreciated because his contribution is visible at Anfield.
"With the long-term contract given, it is clear proof of the club's belief in me, as a player," said Jota.
2. Then, what did Jurgen Klopp say?
Liverpool manager, Juergen Klopp, also welcomed Jota's new contract. Klopp feels Jota's contract extension is an important moment for Liverpool's long-term project.
"A brilliant decision. His quality is definitely top-notch. He continues to work hard to contribute to the team," said Klopp.
3. Multifunction in front
Jota has indeed become one of Klopp's coveted players. Jota's work rate on the field was above average and made Klopp smitten when he was still at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Also, Jota can play three roles. He can be played as a winger, number 9, or as a hole striker. During two seasons with Liverpool, he has packed 34 goals and nine assists from 85 appearances in all competitions.
"His pressure and counter-attacks are at an incredible level. He can play in a variety of attacking positions. As a striker who can play on the wing, he gives us so many options. Since coming to Liverpool he has grown a lot," said Klopp.
