นายเผด็จ วุฒิชาญ เจ้าของบ้านหม่อเส้ง เลขที่ 72 ย่านเมืองเก่าภูเก็ต บอกว่า การปลูกฝังวัฒนธรรมให้กับเยาวชนนั้น เปรียบเสมือนการหว่านเมล็ดพันธุ์พืช เยาวชนที่มา 100 คนถ้าผ่านไปอีกหลายปีได้มาสัก 1 คน ที่จะมาอนุรักษ์วัฒนธรรม ก็จะเป็นสิ่งที่ได้ประโยชน์มาก แต่เราไม่ได้คาดหวังว่าการที่คนมา 30-40 คนจะอนุรักษ์วัฒนธรรมได้ทั้งหมด แต่ที่มาทั้งหมด ไม่ทราบว่าอดีตเป็นอย่างไร ปัจจุบันเป็นอย่างไร และอนาคตจะเป็นอย่างไร
แต่ต้องการให้เยาวชนรู้สิ่งที่เป็นไปของภูเก็ต งานอนุรักษ์นั้นจะเป็นสื่อ ที่ถ่ายทอดความรู้ไปสู่ทุกคน
วัฒนธรรมเปรียบเสมือนสายน้ำ ไม่จำเป็นที่จะต้องเหมือนต้นน้ำ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นอาหาร เครื่องแต่งกาย เมื่อมาอยู่ในที่ที่ห่างไกลจากต้นกำเนิด ก็จะเกิดการเปลี่ยนแปลง แต่ก็มีรากเดิมอยู่ ถ้าถามว่าวัฒนธรรมสูญหายไหม ผมมองว่าไม่สูญหายเพราะมันอยู่ในชีวิตของเราโดยตลอด เราเกิดมาก็อยู่ในวัฒนธรรม เราตายไปก็เป็นวัฒนธรรม ทุกอย่างมันมีการปรับเปลี่ยนได้ ซึ่งเป็นเรื่องปกติ แต่ว่าอยู่ติดตัวเรา สืบทอดโดยพฤติกรรม ไม่ได้เกิดจากแรงจูงใจ เมื่อเด็กเกิดขึ้นมาอยู่ ไม่ว่าทำแบบนั้นก็จะอยู่แบบนั้นต่อไป
