Integration Wheeler's Curriculum Process Model with TPACK framework
After deep review in Wheeler's Curriculum Process Model and the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework, I believe intregration of this two approach could provide a comprehensive strategy that encompasses curriculum development stages and promotes the integration of technology for engaging and impactful learning.
Wheeler's model, provides a structured framework for curriculum development. It ensures that educational goals are met, and students receive valuable learning experiences. Each step is guided by educational research and theory, contributing to the creation of effective and influential curricula.
In addition to Wheeler's model, the TPACK framework advocates for the seamless integration of technological, pedagogical, and content knowledge, recognizing the transformative potential of technology in education. This means that educators must be adept at using technology tools and resources (Technological Knowledge or TK) to select and implement appropriate technological solutions to enhance instruction.
Effective teaching strategies that are student-centered and tailored to individual learning styles (Pedagogical Knowledge or PK) are crucial. Teachers must be expertise in creating engaging learning experiences. Moreover, a deep understanding of the subject matter (Content Knowledge or CK) is essential for effective teaching. This underscores the significance of educators being experts in their respective fields, enabling them to deliver content in a meaningful and engaging manner.
The integration of Technological Knowledge (TK), Pedagogical Knowledge (PK), and Content Knowledge (CK) enables educators to leverage technology in ways that enhance the teaching and learning of specific content areas. Mishra and Koehler's seminal work (2006) laid the foundation for the TPACK framework, illustrating how these knowledge domains intersect to create effective teaching practices.
By combining Wheeler's model with TPACK, we ensure a curriculum that not only adheres to educational goals but also utilizes technology to enhance the teaching and learning experience. This integrated approach equips our school to provide a dynamic and effective educational experience, preparing students for the challenges of today's world.
