EP20 – Koko the Cat at TeamLab Planets
The moment Koko the Cat stepped into TeamLab Planets, it felt as if she had entered another universe.
Glittering lights reflected all around her, while a mysterious melody floated softly through the air. The atmosphere here wasn’t just about viewing art—it was about becoming part of it. Every step, every touch, was a brushstroke in a living dream.
TeamLab Planets first opened in 2018 in the Toyosu district of Tokyo, created by the renowned art collective TeamLab, known for their groundbreaking digital art.
Its central concept, “Body Immersive,” invites visitors to engage all their senses. Guests remove their shoes, walk barefoot, wade through water, pass through curtains of light, and step into a realm where art and reality blend seamlessly into one.
Among the most iconic rooms is the Infinite Crystal World, where tens of thousands of LED lights shimmer in every direction—like drifting among an ocean of stars.
The Floating Flower Garden suspends real flowers in midair that gracefully move aside as visitors approach, as if nature itself were parting to welcome them.
In the Waterfall Room, guests wade through shallow water as digital currents ripple in rhythm with their steps.
Meanwhile, the Mirror Room expands infinitely in every direction, making one feel as though they’ve become part of the endless cosmos.
The true meaning of TeamLab Planets lies in its message—that humans, nature, art, and technology can exist in harmony as one. It’s not merely an exhibition to observe, but an experience to feel and learn from.
While many come here seeking spectacular photos and videos, everyone leaves carrying something deeper—a spark of inspiration and wonder.
And as Koko the Cat stood amid that glowing sea of lights, she turned with a gentle smile, waving her little red fan as if to say,
“This is a dream—one that we are truly walking within.”
