a vast underground network known as
the Wood Wide Web,
woven by mycorrhizal fungi —
the fine mushroom threads that live in symbiosis

through a handful of soil.
Some wrap around the roots (ectomycorrhizae),
others grow within root tissues (endomycorrhizae).
Together they form a delicate and
