This beautiful courtyard stands in the center of an office building, was commissioned by Prince Maffeo Barberini-Colonna di Sciarra in the late 19th century to connect several pieces of his property together. Today, Rome citizens use the Galleria Sciarra as a shortcut when walking across the city.
The courtyard is decorated in an Art Nouveau style, with an iron-glass ceiling, and frescoes that show off the “Glorification of Women” by the artist Giuseppe Cellini.
As the Galleria Sciarra is located in an office building, it is open to visitors during business hours.
