WHA Group Drives Green Economy and Environmental Technologies
Becomes Thailand’s First Industrial Estate Developer to Concretely Restore Ecosystems and Biodiversity
WHA Group has reinforced its commitment to sustainable development by advancing five key strategies: environmental stewardship, social empowerment, innovation and governance, green economy leadership, and sustainability promotion for Thailand.
The company highlighted major ESG achievements across renewable energy, integrated water management, and electric vehicle (EV) transition initiatives, while elevating its industrial estate model toward a greener future.
A key milestone is WHA Group’s collaboration with the Mae Fah Luang Foundation under Royal Patronage on an ecosystem restoration and biodiversity development project at WHA Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate 2 (WHA ESIE 2). The project marks Thailand’s first industrial estate with a concrete biodiversity restoration initiative, aligned with WHA Group’s mission to achieve a Net Positive Impact by 2050.
Mr. Pajongwit Pongsivapai, Chief Executive Officer of WHA Industrial Development Public Company Limited (WHAID), stated that WHA Group’s “Turning Green to Growth” strategy aims to transform sustainability into a business opportunity that simultaneously generates economic returns, reduces environmental impact, and strengthens competitiveness.
WHA Group targets increasing renewable energy capacity to 1,222 MW, expanding reclaimed water management to 24.25 million cubic meters, and transitioning 10,000 electric vehicles by 2030.
The company is also exploring next-generation technologies such as Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), green hydrogen, and Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS), while developing circular economy models for industrial waste management, solar panel recycling, and repurposing retired EV batteries.
Together with the Mae Fah Luang Foundation, WHA Group conducted a Biodiversity Baseline Survey at WHA ESIE 2, identifying 89 plant species and 31 bird species, laying the foundation for long-term ecological restoration through Nature-based Solutions.
In 2025, WHA Group planted more than 15,800 trees across 69 rai, with plans to expand restoration efforts to 233 rai across eight industrial estates by 2026.
The initiative reflects WHA Group’s long-term vision to balance economic growth, social development, and environmental sustainability while continuing its mission to “Shape the Future for Thailand.”
“Industrial growth of the future must go beyond economic expansion — it must grow together with nature and sustainability.”
