GGC and GIZ Advance Low-Carbon Palm Oil Supply Chain Through SPOPP CLIMA, Unveil 2026 Action Plan
Global Green Chemicals Public Company Limited (GGC), in partnership with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) Thailand, has reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable palm oil production by advancing the Sustainable Palm Oil Production and Procurement Project for Mitigation and Adaptation (SPOPP CLIMA).
At a project planning workshop held in Phuket, project partners and participating smallholder farmer groups reviewed the project's progress and established the 2026 implementation roadmap, aiming to accelerate Thailand's transition toward a low-carbon palm oil supply chain while strengthening farmers' resilience to climate change.
The workshop focused on monitoring the progress of RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) certification activities, project implementation, data collection, and knowledge sharing among participating farmers. Discussions also addressed operational challenges, lessons learned, and opportunities to further improve sustainable farming practices.
A key highlight was the introduction of the latest version of CLIMAX Pro, a carbon footprint calculation platform for oil palm plantations developed in accordance with the standards of the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO). The user-friendly digital tool enables farmers to measure greenhouse gas emissions, identify major emission sources, and develop data-driven carbon reduction strategies while improving plantation productivity and resource efficiency.
The workshop also strengthened farmers' capabilities in financial management and climate risk adaptation, supporting long-term resilience and sustainable agricultural development.
For 2026, project partners agreed on three strategic priorities: expanding demonstration plot monitoring, establishing a comprehensive farmer database, and promoting wider adoption of CLIMAX Pro among smallholder farmers. These initiatives are expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, optimize production costs, improve productivity, and support evidence-based farm management.
Building on the success of the original SPOPP initiative, SPOPP CLIMA represents a collaborative effort between GGC, GIZ Thailand, and Thailand's Department of Agriculture to promote internationally recognized sustainable palm oil production while supporting Thailand's transition toward a low-carbon economy.
The initiative also reflects GGC's long-term ESG commitment to building a transparent, responsible, and sustainable palm oil supply chain. Through collaboration with smallholder farmers and strategic partners, GGC aims to enhance the competitiveness of Thailand's palm oil industry while creating long-term economic, social, and environmental value.
