Watsons Thailand at 30: From Its First Store in 1996 to 800+ Locations — What Comes Next in Its Fourth Decade?
Watsons Thailand’s 30th anniversary represents more than a corporate milestone. It also reflects three decades of transformation in Thailand’s health and beauty retail landscape.
Since opening its first Thai store at Maneeya Center in Bangkok in 1996, Watsons has expanded to more than 800 stores across all 77 provinces, building one of the country's most extensive health and beauty retail networks.
Under the anniversary theme “30 Years Celebration of Friendship,” the company is now entering its fourth decade with a strategy that extends beyond physical store expansion.
A key element is its O+O (Offline + Online) approach, connecting physical stores with digital channels to create a seamless customer journey across health, beauty and personal-care shopping.
Nualphan Chaiyanam, Managing Director of Watsons Thailand, describes the company's three-decade journey as one built not only on business growth but also on consumer trust across generations. For Watsons, the 30th anniversary is therefore not the finish line, but the beginning of its next chapter.
Social impact remains another component of that strategy. Watsons has supported the Association for the Promotion of the Status of Women (APSW) for more than 20 years and is marking its anniversary by providing automatic cardiac and vital-sign monitoring equipment to five hospitals across Thailand, representing a total contribution of THB 3 million.
For consumers, the anniversary campaign runs from August 27 to September 23, 2026, with selected products starting from THB 30, MEGA SAVE discounts of up to 60% across more than 3,000 items, and additional privileges for Watsons Club members.
As Watsons enters its fourth decade in Thailand, the key question may no longer be simply how many stores it can open.
The bigger challenge is how effectively it can maintain relationships with multiple generations of consumers while integrating physical retail, digital commerce, customer data and personalized experiences.
In the next era of health and beauty retail, scale still matters—but customer understanding and a truly seamless experience may matter even more.
