เดิมทีการเข้าใจกระบวนการการตัดสินใจของคนนั้นไม่ใช่เรื่องหมู ๆ เพราะในการตัดสินใจหนึ่งครั้งประกอบไปด้วยปัจจัยมากมายที่ไม่สามารถถอดออกมาคำนวณแบบคณิตศาสตร์ได้ การทำความเข้าใจการตัดสินใจของคนจึงเป็นหนึ่งในเรื่องที่ท้าทายมากในวงการวิทยาศาสตร์

AI can now mimic humans' decision-making.
It was quite challenging to understand the process by which humans make decisions because how we make a decision
is affected by many factors and seems arbitrary. It can't be calculated using math. That's why understanding and theorising the process of decision-making have been so challenging for scientists.
A team of researchers from Princeton University and Worcester Polytechnic Institute has developed a new method that enables machine learning to understand and mimic humans' decision-making processes. Their paper published in the Journal
Science reported that the core of their success is the larger dataset.
There have been many attempts to create a machine learning model that can theorise how humans make decisions. However, because of the small data set, and that such theories have never been tested against one another, they aren't practical in the real world. In this recent effort, the researchers turned to a larger-scale dataset for more accuracy and the model was also used to test other theories to improve them.
The researchers conducted a common decision-making experiment with 1,000 volunteers. They had to choose between 2 choices of receiving $100 with a probability of just 10%, or $50 with a probability of 90%. Such experiments helped to generate a large-scale dataset with 10,000 responses. The researchers found that the model can mimic human decision-making with high accuracy that is much better than results of previous attempts.
From now on, if you can't decide between things. Let machine learning do it for you. They know best.
