How to use IN ON AT + Prepositions of Place and Direction
●
IN is used to explain one point in time (not specific times), a place in itself, and a location in an area or volume
Use “in” with one point in time such as centuries, decades, months, years, seasons, weeks, and parts of the day (not specific times).
Example: He studies in the morning.
The weather is cold in December.
Tiffany was born in 2000.
To explain a place in the point itself
Example: The toys in the box. The milk was in the glass.
To explain a location in an area or volume with a neighborhood, country, and city.
Example: I had lived in Korea since 2005.

ON is used to explain one point in time with days, a place, or a location on a surface.
To explain one point in time such as days (Sunday-Saturday) and weekends
Example: Ken works on Sundays.
To explain a place or location on a surface such as streets and avenues
Example: Teddy Bear was left on the bed.

AT is used to explain one point in time with the time of day, a place at the general vicinity, and a location at a point
One point in time with the time, specific times such as 9 am, 10 pm, and 10 o'clock.
Example: He eats bread at 9:00 AM.
A place at the general vicinity such as an address and specific location.
Example: The boy was waiting for the bus at the bus stop.

Example: She finds him at the library.

Prepositions of Place
To refer to a place inside something contained use “inside”
Example: The dog is inside the cage.
Inside is always associated with a sense of being physical enclosed.
Differences between In and Inside
In: used to indicate a location, time, position, etc.
Inside: is always associated with a sense of being physical enclosed.
To refer to an object higher than a point use “over” and “above”
Example: The ball flew over the box.
The ball is above the box.
To refer to an object lower than a point use “under/underneath” and “below”
Example: The ball is under/underneath the box.
The ball is below the box.
To refer to an object close to a point uses the following prepositions: near, by, next to, between, among, opposite.
Boy is stand by the girl.
Girl stand between an old woman and a boy.
The lion is opposite elephant.
Doctor is among students.
This building is next to the hospital.
Postman stands near the postbox.
Between VS Among
Use between when referring to one-to-one relationships.
Use among when referring to indistinct or nonspecific relationships.
By VS Next to
By: Combine that with the position of next to and the position a little further away. have a wider radius may be behind or are opposites
Next to: It is in a position that is immediately connected to each other only on the left or right side.
Prepositions of Direction
“To” is the basic prepositions of direction.
To: signifies orientation toward a goal. When the goal is physical, such as a destination, "to" implies movement in the direction of the goal.
Example: The green car drove to the cinema.
The other two prepositions of direction are compounds formed by adding "to" to the corresponding prepositions of location.
ON + TO = onto: signifies movement toward a surface
Example: The helmet went on(to) his head.
IN + TO =into: signifies movement toward the interior of a volume
Example: The milk went into the glass.
