Preposition of Time: in on และ at
หลายๆ ท่านน่าจะเคยเรื่อง preposition of time ในโรงเรียนกันแล้วใช่ไหมครับ ในตอนนี้หลายๆ ท่านก็คงจะลืมเลื่อนเรื่องนี้ไปบ้าง แต่วันนี้ผมจะมารื้อฟื้นเรื่องนี้อีกรอบครับ
Preposition of time เป็นคำบุพบท (คำที่เชื่อมสองคำนามในประโยคเดียวกัน) ที่ใช้เชื่อมเมื่อเหตุการณ์หรือการกระทำหนึ่ง ๆ ได้เกิดขึ้น โดยปกติแล้ว preposition มักจะวางไว้หน้าเวลานั้นๆ ครับ ในภาษาอังกฤษจะมี preposition of time 3 ตัว ได้แก่ in on และ at นั่นเองครับ
Preposition of time ทั้ง 3 คำนี้มีการใช้ที่แตกต่างกัน และทั้ง 3 คำ มีวิธีใช้ดังนี้:
1. in มักจะใช้กับเดือน ปี หรือคำว่า morning afternoon และ evening ครับ
- She was born in December.
- In 2020s, there is plenty of new artists releasing their music.
- I think he sneaked into your house and stole your pocket in this morning.
- My grandma died in December, 2024.
2. on มักจะใช้กับวันต่างๆ เช่น วันหยุด วันในปฏิทิน และคำว่า weekend (American English)
- Labors aren’t supposed to work on the weekends.
- On Christmas, people return to their hometown and visit their family.
- Most of the schools in Thailand open on May 16th.
- I was born on September 29, 2001.

3. at มักจะใช้กับเวลาที่เฉพาะเจาะจง เช่น 3 PM, noon/midnight และคำว่า weekend (British English)
- Most companies are closed at the weekends.
- I was born at 3:15 PM on July 9, 2000.
- I’m having dinner with my family at 6 PM.
- Artists in the US usually release their music at midnight.
- Kids are supposed to have lunch at noon.
