He didn’t choose to die... but he decided how to go.

He was someone who lived with full intensity. Never halfway. Never halfway measures.
He gave everything—fun, effort, life itself.
He never hurt anyone. Never cruel.
He was extreme in many ways but kind without needing to prove it.
Then, one day, life turned.
A cruel illness came—one that didn’t care how many dreams he still had,
or how much laughter he still wanted to give.
He believed he would recover.
Not because he was naive
but because he genuinely believed in life.
He never prepared to die because he never planned to leave. Not yet.
He never said, “If I die.”
Because in his heart, “dying” was never part of the plan.
But then, not long ago,
his body began to break down.
Multiple complications, all at once.
Until the doctor finally said,
“There’s nothing more we can do.”
And even that sentence—“nothing more we can do” wasn’t enough to shake his faith.
Because he still wasn’t ready to let go.
We always thought doctors were supposed to “cure.” We learned what palliative care was only when his breathing grew quiet.
And when he was moved to a new room,
no one said it was a place for people nearing the end. But we all knew.
That room—did it help us accept? Or did it make us lose hope?
Maybe some began to accept because everything around us whispered,
“This is the final chapter.”
But for others, especially those who weren’t ready, it felt like we’d been quietly placed in a waiting zone as if hope had been archived.
It wasn’t just a change of room.
It was a change in how the future felt.
From “I’m getting better soon”
to “Maybe no one believes I will.”
From where I stood,
it wasn’t just moving a patient.
It was silently telling us to prepare—
without ever saying, “Prepare.”
So we waited. Hoping. Dreading. In-between.

He passed away quietly.
No machines.
No chaos.
Just love—still filling the room.
To me,
He was a brother. A best friend.
And someone who lived—until his very last moment.
