🎄The famous Christmas tree in Trafalgar Square is a gift from Norway.
It is given every year by the city of Oslo to the people of #London .
The tradition started in 1947, as a thank you for Britain’s support to 🇳🇴Norway during World War II.
The tree is always a Norwegian spruce (Picea abies), grown in forests near Oslo, usually 20+ metres tall and 50–60 years old.
🌟It’s cut in Norway in November in a special ceremony, then shipped to London and erected in Trafalgar Square.
