Thais living abroad often gather during holidays so that they can feel closer to home. However, a Thaitown does not exist in every major city, nor are Thai ingredients found easily. Thessaloniki, Greece’s second-largest city, is one of those places; some of its residents are barely familiar with Thai culture. Yet, two years ago, Songkran made its way to Salonica, celebrated by a group of international students and friends. In a way, this reflects the Greek city’s open heart and its liveliness.
Peerachai Pasutan, a Thai PBS Digital Content Creator and AUTh alumnus, reminisces about this particular Songkran night in a Thai PBS bilingual article.
