ฝึกเขียนไดอารี่ภาษาอังกฤษ ครั้งที่ 3 (พร้อมข้อแนะนำในการเขียนและแก้ไขT-T)
The third diary. 25.04.2021
Sunday April 25th, 2021
Today,
I (#1) work up before 8 a.m.
I will (#16) make a lot of
(#2) thin documents for the government teacher evaluation next month. I don’t know much about
(#3) some of the document because I have never
(#16) made it before.
(#4) Then I study how to
(#16) make the (#3) document on YouTube or search the contents on
(#5) Google website.
(#6) Such as, the Japanese language school course syllabus curriculum that I have never seen in this school before. It’s not difficult but
(#7) so much spent time to
(#16) do the document.
(#8) Not only the document I have to print out it, but also bind all of it. Other
(#3) document I have done
(#9) already. Such as home visit report, home room report, etc. I hope everything will be fine when I start the evaluation with my coworkers next month.
(#10) I have spent time for the Japanese language course syllabus curriculum for two days ago, and now I’m still making it.
Yesterday, I (#11) took Japanese online class through the Zoom program. (#12) Actually, I only heard the teacher teaching while I worked. : P
Now, (#13) I listening the (#14) Japanese online class yesterday recording, (#16) making the reports, and the documents again.
I promise next time, I will do homework
(#15) before attend the class.
Thank you for reading my diary.
MEMO :
[Q] คือ คำถาม
[Answer] คือ คำตอบ
= คือ ตอบหรือแสดงความคิดเห็น
You are attempting some complex sentences and grammar in this diary so that is why I have more corrections. Your diary requires multiple verb tenses to tell it correctly so I think that is where a lot of the mistakes happened. As with your previous diaries, the meaning is still understood but we will just keep practicing grammar. We will talk about sentence structure to help you make sure your sentences are easily understood.
1. Incorrect word. The word you are looking for here is 'woke.'
= I got it. Wrong vocabulary.
2. Not quite sure which word you wanted to use here but 'thin' is not the correct word. May need Feliz's help on this one.
[Q] I think. Might be I would like to say the big documents.
[Answer] Would important be a better word for that second sentence?
"I will write a lot of important documents" ?
3. Remember to make sure your nouns agree with the number or description. Here you use the word 'some' to tell us how many documents you are working on. Since you are working on more than one document, you should make 'document' plural -- "some of the documents"
= I got it. some of N+s.
4. Remember to keep the same verb tense when telling a story or order of events. In your first sentence you say you are going to do something in the future ("I will make..."). When you start the sentence with "Then..." it suggests you are going to tell us what your next action in the future will be. When you say "I study" that is present tense. "I study" would mean you are currently studying. Since you are talking about something you are going to do in the future, you would say, "I will study" or "I am going to study."
= I got it. I will learn this grammar again for today. : )
5. Minor issue here. Website is unnecessary in this sentence since we can reasonably assume that everyone already knows Google is a website.
=I got it.
6. I'm going to rewrite this sentence. I understand what you are saying but the phrasing is awkward in English.
"For example, I have never seen the syllabus curriculum for this Japanese language school before."
To make sure English speakers/readers understand, try to follow this format: Subject --> Verb --> Object. Here's a simple example:
"You go to the store." English speakers will easily follow and understand that sentence. If we change the format and say "The store you go to," it will sound unfamiliar or awkward to English speakers. It sounds like Yoda from Star Wars haha :)
[Q] Who is Yoda? I know Star Wars but I haven't seen this movie before. But my friend really loves this movie.
[Answer] And Yoda is this guy lol. He always puts the object as the first part of his sentence. "Like this he talks." He's an important character in the Star Wars movies. Fans of the movies sometimes imitate how he talks.
Yoda : The Star Wars Movies
Sentences in English definitely can be written in different orders but to make sure your meaning is understood, try to follow the Noun --> Verb --> Object order until we practice grammar some more.
= It looks like Thai grammar, too.
7. There are a few ways you can write this sentence. "It's not difficult but I spent so much time to complete the document" or "It's not difficult but it took so much time to complete the document." In either example, we need to know what required a lot of time. Who spent so much time? What spent so much time?
= I got it.
8. Rewritten: "Not only do I have to print out the document.." or "Not only do I have to print it out..." This is a complex sentence structure so that's probably why the mistakes occurred here. Same idea as my other corrections (subject + verb + object)
= I got it. This sentence like "I want to cheer you up" it's not "I want to cheer up you"
9. Here is another example of trying to write complex sentences but the result is awkward phrasing or incomplete sentences. An easier way to write this sentence (subject + verb + object) would be: "I have already done some documents, such as the home visit report, home room report, etc."
10. Rewritten: "I worked on the Japanese language course syllabus curriculum for two days and I am still working on it."
'Work is a better word to use here. In future sentences, try to avoid using 'spent time' and find a verb that better describes the action you took.
[Q] Ok I got it. Might be "spent time" looks like not polite, isn't it?
[Answer] On #10, it's not that it is polite or impolite. I want you to describe what you did without relying on "spent time" to talk about something that already happened. Here's an example:
"I spent time on my reports for work yesterday."
"I wrote reports for work yesterday"
11. Minor grammatical issue. Since you took one class, you would also say you "took a class."
= I forgot it again. 55+ Thank you very much.
12. I think I know what you're saying here. You listened to the teacher while you continued to work? A better word would be 'listen' here. This is the sentence rewritten: "Actually, I only listened to the teacher while I worked."
13. When you use I + verb ending in -ing, you need to add the word an additional word. Here you would say, "I am listening." Here is the full example of this:
I am listening
She/ He is listening
You are listening
We are listening
They are listening
Here is how this would differ from just the present tense:
I listen
She/ He listens
You listen
We listen
They listen
14. Some awkward phrasing here with the placement of yesterday. Here are several ways you could write this sentence:
"Now I am listening to yesterday's online Japanese class recording."
"Now I am listening to yesterday's recording of the online Japanese class."
"Now I am listening to the recording of yesterday's Japanese online class."
"Now I am listening to the Japanese online class recording from yesterday"
15. Almost! Here are a couple of ways you could write this sentence
"I promise next time I will do homework before attending the class."
"I promise next time I will do homework before I attend the class."
= I got it. before N + verb+object.right?
16. I'll have to talk with Feliz about this one. It sounds like you are either creating, filling out, or completing documents for work. 'Make' and 'do' help communicate the meaning but those may not be the best words to use.
Let me know if you have questions about any of this. I know I gave you a lot of information.
[Q] How about the difference between "Make" and "Do"? Can I use another word to say?
[Answer] For #16, I'll have to talk with Feliz to figure out the best word that would work. In some cases, create, write, complete, submit, etc may be good words to use. I think a good example might be this:
If I were to write an essay, I would not say "I made a report" or "I did a report." I would say, "I wrote a report." It's basically just using a more descriptive or accurate word to tell us what you did.
