Vietnam beat Indonesia 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-9)
Vietnam, steered by hefty Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, made a solid start in the 2nd ASEAN Grand Prix Women’s Volleyball Invitation at Chartchai Hall in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand after powering past Indonesia in straight sets 25-23, 25-19, 25-9 in the opening clash on Friday.
It was the Vietnam’s first win ever in the ASEAN Grand Prix as the SEA Games silver medallists lost them all in six matches contested at the inaugural four-team ASEAN Grand Prix in 2019, split into the first leg in Nakhon Ratchasima and the second leg in Santa Rosa, Philippines.
The Vietnamese, fourth place at the recent AVC Cup for Women in Pasig City, Philippines are due to next take on Philippines on Saturday.
