This stripped-down ballad features Colbie Caillat lamenting over a love gone wrong.
"It's about two people that maybe let their relationship fall apart and then they think back years later on what they could have done differently and maybe they would still have been together," Caillat told People of the song. "So, it's kind of an open-ended mystery."
Directed by Patrick Tracy (Dan + Shay's "Tequila"), the song's music video was filmed around Tennessee's Big East Fork Valley. We see the two couples that comprise Gone West act out the "before" and "after" of a heartbreak.
The band is based out of Nashville, Tennessee, and gets its name from the fact that its four members all hail from states (Reeves from Iowa, Joy from Texas, Caillat from California, and Young from Hawaii) west of Tennessee, which was the inspiration for the band's "autobiographical theme song" and titular track "Gone West."
