Westward Expansion: Throughout the 19th century, the United States expanded its territory through various means, including purchases (such as the Louisiana Purchase), treaties, and conflicts with Native American tribes. This expansion fueled economic growth, increased conflicts over slavery, and eventually led to the concept of "Manifest Destiny" -- the belief that the United States was destined to stretch from coast to coast.
