The Rolling Pinn Sukhumvit 39 BIO HOUSE

We Tried Choco Gems Pop. Here’s What We Think

Even though the rainy season has stayed with us for a while, Bangkok is still pretty hot and humid. What better way to refresh your day than with an ice cream? However, the city's recent trending dessert comes in the form of these viral, fruit-shaped ice cream bites: Choco Gems Pop.
Created by The Rolling Pinn, this dessert house has become the talk of the town by launching more than just colorful boxes of cake and brownies. They actually are choco pops.
Recently, we stumbled upon their pop-up store by chance at Siam Paragon so it’s time to try their Popping Edition, which literally contains a hard sugar confection that fizzes when it melts inside your mouth. There are four flavours in the box including apple, blueberry, raspberry, and passionfruit. We tried them all in one sitting and this is what we thought about them.
Best Flavours in Popping Edition Choco Gems Pop
1. Blueberry: The aroma of blueberry makes them the main character of the box. The balance between sweetness and acidity is the reason you won’t be disappointed on your first bite.
2. Raspberry: It tastes more fruity than the blueberry one.. However, if you love to have fruit ice cream, Raspberry could be your first pick. We would say it’s a close call when we pick the winner between these two.
3. Passionfruit: We all know what passionfruit flavour is all about, but it is the most refreshing bite in the box. Even if you don’t consider yourself a sweet tooth, this one is still approachable.
4. Apple: This one ranks slightly lower for two reasons. First, there is only a single piece in the box. Even though it's the biggest piece in the box, that's just how it is. Second, it is a little bit acidic and tastes more like strong apple juice than creamy frozen ice cream. However, it is still worth a try if you love fruity sweets.
