I have, generally speaking, thought anything said to be “apocryphal” has some merit. Hitler did hate The Queen Mother for a minimum of 2 reasons.
The top reason was that she was determined to limit the egregious Duke and Duchess of Windsor ’s pro Nazis sympathies to the backwaters of the United Kingdom.(Churchill wanted him as far away from the Home Island’s as possible without having him kidnapped and taken as a propaganda pawn for Hitler!)
Hitler had every intention of replacing the Royal family with the pro nazis Windsors when he conquered the British Isles after The Battle of Britain was won! The second reason was that she and her girls refused to leave England for the safety of the United States like so many other European Monarchs and their families did or intended to do once Germany took over England.
The famous quote from her said everything the world needed to know about The Queen and her “Iron Will”.”The King will never leave Britan, and I will never leave without the King and my children will never leave without me!” Now that is what TERRIFIED Hitler, a woman with an Iron Will who was intentionally willing to thwart his plans for World Domination!
